Since I’m writing my fourth book now, I wonder who urban fantasy readers are. It’s not like I haven’t thought about it before, but we seem to be such a wide-ranging group. After some thought, I suspect what we have in common is:
- Imagination and creativity: Urban fantasy often involves imaginative world-building and unique concepts, which may appeal to readers with active imaginations and creative tendencies.
- Open-mindedness: The fantasy and supernatural elements in urban fantasy may require readers to suspend their disbelief and be open to new or unconventional ideas.
- Independence and resilience: Many urban fantasy protagonists are strong, independent characters who face and overcome significant challenges. Readers who enjoy this genre may also value independence and resilience in their own lives.
- Love of adventure and excitement: Urban fantasy often includes action-packed plots and high stakes, which may appeal to readers who enjoy adventure and excitement.
But, since that’s just a guess, I’ve created a nifty poll to find out! more about who you are and what you like.
It’s not a lot and it’s far from scientifically valid – just some things to test my hypothesis.
There’s 11 questions, mostly multiple choice, and I’ll share the result with you when I’ve got enough responses.

When you’re done with that, have a look at these fantasy books on offer. There’s a fair few now on my tbr list!
